NYC Honor is on a mission to develop the city's most talented and academically driven young athletes β on the court, in the classroom, and beyond.
NYC Honor is a grassroots basketball organization based in New York City, founded in 2025 by former college basketball player and NCAA coach Mike Murray with a mission to develop the city's most talented and academically driven young athletes.
Our program competes on the Made Hoops MHC Circuit β one of the most competitive grassroots basketball platforms in the country. We bring elite coaching expertise to every player who steps on our court.
We believe that basketball opens doors, but academics and character keep them open. Every NYC Honor athlete is held to the highest standards both in competition and in the classroom.
As we transition to 501(c)(3) non-profit status, our commitment deepens β ensuring all young athletes, regardless of background, can access elite basketball development and financial education.
Mike Murray is a former college basketball player turned elite-level coach who brings the same competitiveness, discipline, and work ethic from his playing days to every aspect of NYC Honor. A standout guard at St. Joseph's College in Brooklyn, Mike played college basketball as a transfer β competing at the collegiate level and learning what it takes to perform under pressure.
After his playing career, Mike transitioned directly into high-level college coaching. He served as Assistant Basketball Coach at the College of Saint Rose (2019β2023), an NCAA Division II program where he recruited nationally, developed game strategy, and helped guide college athletes through the demands of competitive basketball. He also spent 3 years as Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach at St. Francis Prep, one of New York City's premier high school programs.
Mike's basketball journey also included serving as Director of Skills at Hoop Group, where he trained and evaluated top talent at one of the nation's most respected basketball development organizations.
In August 2024, Mike joined the FDNY β carrying the same values of courage, service, and teamwork from the firehouse to the court. His unique combination of college playing experience, NCAA coaching expertise, and FDNY discipline is the foundation of NYC Honor.

Perovic has built a strong reputation for player development, recruiting guidance, and relationship building with college programs nationwide. Over the last six years alone, he has helped place more than 40 players into Division I basketball programs, while guiding families through the recruiting process.
His impact extends beyond college placement. One of the players he mentored went on to be selected in the NBA Draft, a testament to his ability to identify and develop elite talent.
With the introduction of Name, Image, and Likeness opportunities, Perovic has also helped athletes navigate the new era of college athletics, facilitating more than $2 million in NIL opportunities for players since the rule changes began.
Through his leadership and network, Perovic continues to play a major role in shaping the next generation of high-level basketball talent.
Excellence is not accidental. We train with purpose, study with focus, and compete with intensity every single day.
Honor means doing the right thing when no one is watching. On the court, in the classroom, and in life.
Rooted in FDNY values, we serve our community. Every player is taught that greatness is measured by what you give back.
Basketball opens doors. Academics keep them open. High grades aren't optional β they're the standard.
We develop the whole person β skills, character, financial literacy, and leadership for long-term success.
Competing on the national MHC Circuit, we hold ourselves to the highest standard of competition and sportsmanship.
